THE RFL will break new ground by taking the Challenge Cup semi-final between Hull KR and Catalans Dragons to York.
The tie at the LNER Community Stadium (pictured) will take place on Saturday, May 10 (2.30pm), with last year's beaten finalists Warrington facing Leigh, the 2023 competition winners, in the second semi-final at St Helens' Totally Wicked Stadium the following day, Sunday 11 (4.15pm). Both matches will be shown live by the BBC.
The LNER Community Stadium, which was opened in 2021, staged that year's Women's Challenge Cup semifinals, in which York beat Castleford and St Helens saw off Leeds.
The venue also hosted Women's World Cup matches in 2022, and will do likewise for the rugby union version later his year.
But the city has never had a men's Challenge Cup semi-final, and organisers will hope to get near to the stadium record of 8,209, for a preseason football match between Leeds United and Monaco in 2023.
