When to interrupt
It’s often difficult to know when to make a comment during a conversation. And if you’re having difficulties, you may have to interrupt. But when and how? Sometimes, the person speaking might pause or hesitate – this is a good chance to jump in. People often make the sound “er” or “erm” when they’re thinking. If you hear this, then you could try to make your comment. They may also stop for a second or two. This is another good opportunity to say something. If it’s really difficult, you could make a signal so the other person knows you want to say something.
