»ONGOING DEVELOPMENT
A lengthy thread was started last autumn titled “Reg the next LTS kernel (6.1?)” in which Kaiwan N Billimoria, who is working on a second edition of a Linux Kernel Programming book, wondered if Linux 6.1 would become the next Long Term Stable kernel supported by Greg K-H (Kroah-Hartman) for several years of backports. Typically, such kernels are used by Linux distros for their longer-term releases, and an LTS is useful for a book to target.
