Q Although I typed in my password correctly, when I try to log into my M1 iMac, it refuses to accept it. Has it forgotten or corrupted my password?

A Because of the way that Apple silicon Macs store and use login passwords, it’s far more likely that it’s not being entered correctly. Don’t keep trying to enter it, though, as your Mac’s security system only allows a limited number of attempts to enter the login password, and soon starts to enforce delays, first of a minute, rising to as much as an hour before locking you out. Check the Caps Lock isn’t lit, then open the keyboard menu at the top right of the login screen and ensure you’ve the correct keyboard set for entering your password.
