THE BEST LAPTOP GRAPHICS CARDS
EASILY THE MOST IMPORTANT part of a gaming notebook is its GPU, but choosing based purely on the model of GPU is sadly no longer enough. You now need to know how much power the laptop manufacturer is letting that GPU chow down on, commonly referred to as the TGP. That’s why our very favorite current mobile GPU isn’t necessarily the most powerful; it’s a bit more complicated than that.

MD RADEON 890M
‘Integrated’ used to be a dirty word when it comes to gaming graphics, but AMD has recalibrated expectations in recent years, and its new Strix Point APUs with their RDNA 3.5 Radeon 890MiGPU is pretty damned impressive. We were already into the 780M and its 1080p gaming chops, but the new 890M of the Ryzen AI 9 HX APUs is another level beyond that. Okay, it’s still behind the likes of an Nvidia RTX 4060 discrete GPU for frame rates, but for 1080 p mobile gaming on a tight budget, the 890M makes a lot of sense. Laptops from $1,000, www.amd.com
