FOLLOWING TWO WILDLY successful albums with Ronnie James Dio at the helm, Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules, Live Evil was both Sabbath’s first official live album and the end of a chapter. By the time it was released in 1983, Dio had left, along with Bill Ward’s replacement, drummer Vinny Appice, and would go on to release the Holy Diver album. But for all the behind-the-scenes Brits vs Yanks tensions, Live Evil remains a classic.
