What makes this layout great?
"Sam has proved how much a layout can benefit from time spent researching the perfect blend of scenery, rather than just choosing any tone. As it’s a Peak District layout there was always going to be a lot of grass, so it was vital that Sam got it right – and he has, resulting in a superb finish."

This is the first proper layout that Sam built for himself as the rest were built with the youth club.
F indingthe time to participate in a hobby can be difficult, particularly as they can be very time-consuming. A round of golf, for example, can easily mean you are out of the house for five hours or more. ‘Time-consuming’ is certainly a term you’d associate with model railways and it’s something that prevents a lot of modellers from building the layout that they’d really want. For Sam Jones, he needed an evening hobby to pass the time when riding his motorbike wasn’t an option, and his mind was cast back to when he used to go to a youth club that had a model club on Thursday nights.
