HOW TO BUILD A PUBLIC SERVICE CENTRE

M etcalfeModels has an increasing range of kits being released in both ‘N’ and ‘OO’ gauges. To see how easy these kits are to assemble, I acquired one of the most recent ‘OO’ gauge kits – the municipal building, which can either be built as a small hospital, health centre, school, veterinary practice, court or anything that takes your fancy. The kit comes well packaged with clear instructions and I found the parts to be cleanly cut, coming away from the backing card very easily.
Having the right tools when tackling a card kit is vital, and I used two different glues to build this kit, Deluxe Materials Roket Card Glue and Woodland Scenics Scenic Glue. The former is quicker to work with than other adhesives usually associated with making card kits, but the latter is a little more controllable which helps to not get excess glue onto the visible surfaces of the kit which mar the final result.
As always with Metcalfe kits, you can personalize them with additional details from other manufacturers, so I spent nearly as long adding details to it as I did building it, so it won’t look exactly the same as everybody else’s.
