There was a big response to the news that Country Wide Events had cancelled a planned concert in Oban’s Corran Halls by a Bee Gees tribute band because of poor ticket sales. Only 80 had been sold. The promoter said anyone who had bought a ticket would get a refund if they took it back to the Corran Halls.
Niall M Cameron asked: ‘When was this set up and why no advertising? Not that I’m interested in the Bee Gees but hate to see a venue like this not being properly advertised. Social media is a wonderful thing; please feel free to advertise. Still I’m staying alive but it is such a tragedy.’
Douglas Miller posted: ‘Typical Oban attitude towards anything that gets put on. Expect to rock up on the night and pay to get in. Flyers were distributed widely in town. Yet you lot complain nothing goes on in Oban.’
