Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is to continue funding the Macmillan benefits uptake service for people with cancer and other long-term conditions.
The policy and resources committee agreed last week to allocate £25,000 to match fund investment from Macmillan Cancer Support.
An Offcer works four days a week across the Western Isles to help people who may never have claimed benefits before to navigate the system while dealing with the physical and emotional problems cancer brings. Home visits are also undertaken to help people secure additional resources and financial support.
