With the new Arcane animated TV series out on Netflix and big events launched all across Riot’s different games, November might as well have been called Lolvember. But aside from sinking a few hours into League of Legends: Wild Rift, the one Riot game I’ve been obsessed with lately is Legends of Runeterra, its unparalleled card battler that’s secretly the best game in the whole League of Legends universe
It’s not just that Legends of Runeterra is filled with innovative ideas and fun new mechanics, but that it slots into my life in a way no other free-to-play game really has. Unlike Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering, Legends of Runeterra is generous enough with its currency that even casual players can eventually collect every card available. That also means that even when I take long breaks, I don’t feel left behind by the release of new expansions. Just start slinging cards and, soon enough, I’m able to afford whatever flashy new deck I’m ogling.
