Elinchrom’s D-Lite flash heads and kits have earned a somewhat legendary status over the years, and rightly so. Build quality is excellent, they’re easy to use, and they deliver superb performance. Kits are available with premium quality softboxes or brollies, robust lighting stands, wireless hotshoe-mounting triggers and smart padded carrying cases.
The D-Lite RX One head is ideal if you want to use wide apertures for shrinking the depth of field, whereas the kit we chose for this test is based on a pair of D-Light RX 4 heads, the most powerful in the range. It’s supplied with a 66cm square softbox and a 56cm octagonal softbox, as well as a deflector that enables a beauty dish effect.
The supplied EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus radiofrequency trigger enables remote adjustment of flash head settings and has a range of up to 200m. Alternatively, you can upgrade to the Elinchrom HS Transmitter which also enables high speed sync flash.
