“ My CARDIOLOGIST says my heart functions like it would’ve in HIGH SCHOOL”
Star of wrestling Austin Aries is soon to release his memoir charting his rise to glory in the wrestling world and the intertwining journey towards a plant based lifestyle. Austin took some time out from his busy schedule to chat to us about the changes he’s seen in the two decades since he gave up meat and why it is that meat-eating is still so synonymous with masculinity.
How long have you been vegan and what was the process of going from non-vegan to plantbased eater?
I became vegetarian in 2000 and transitioned to a plant based diet seven years ago. I made the switch after learning more about the food industry and how food is produced and processed. The more questions I had, the more I looked for answers. As I found the answers, I knew I would eventually make the change and did. There was really no other option for me; growing up, meat was off-putting and I just never really liked the thought of eating other living beings. For me, there was no denying the ethics behind living plant based and all the health benefits that go along with it.
