CLONE IN LIGHTEN MODE
To quickly smooth out an area of uneven tonality in skin, perhaps to tone down bags under eyes or soften wrinkles, first press Cmd/Ctrl+J to make a copy of your layer. Grab the Clone Tool, then go to the tool Blending Mode options (not the layer options) and set it to Lighten. Press 2 for 20% brush opacity, then Alt-click to sample a clean area of skin nearby. Paint to clone over the rough area until it’s smooth.
