A YEAR as a junior energy and net zero minister before the last election is certainly generating job offers for Tory peer Lord (Martin) Callanan, even while he continues to hold a position as shadow defence minister.
Among the one-time MEP for the north east’s new gigs is acting as “senior counsel” to NorthPoint Strategy, a lobbying firm set up by fellow north-easterner and, until 2017, junior minister Lord (James) Wharton. It specialises in helping crypto and energy firms and lists “clean energy-tech” firm Aira and low-emission boiler provider Tepeo, as well as the Heat and Building Business Council, among its clients.
