IN SUITABLY tardy fashion, reflecting the service’s relaxed approach to deadlines, the new Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) is soon to be unveiled as former Student Loans Company boss Paula Sussex.
The process has taken 19 extraordinary months. The first recruitment process started in October 2023 – in plenty of time, one would have imagined, for a smooth transition when incumbent Sir Rob Behrens was due to hand over the position (“poisoned chalice”, shurely? Ed?) at the end of his seven-year term the next April.
