WHO better to take charge of a new government fund to invest in AI than someone with extensive interests in AI?
Last month science secretary Liz Kendall unveiled James Wise as head of a new Sovereign AI Unit, a fund seeded with £500m of taxpayer cash. The ex-McKinsey consultant is a partner with Balderton Capital, which describes itself as “the largest early-stage venture capital firm in Europe” and has a particular interest in AI.
