Richard Durrant is a renowned classical guitarist with years of concert recitals under his belt, but recently he’s concentrated on composing and recording his own material. His latest album contains a series of instrumental fantasias inspired by the idea of rewilding the natural world – letting nature “reverse the damage caused by mankind”.
Featuring the woodwind playing talents of Gryphon’s Brian Gulland, Durrant conjures intricate musical settings that reflect the mythic English landscape depicted by ‘unrealist’ sleeve artist Jon Everitt. Admirers of Anthony Phillips, Mike Oldfield and Clay Pipe Music’s more pastoral releases will find much to enjoy.
