There Will Come Soft Rains PELAGIC
Mournful post-rock stretches the genre.
Pete Lambrou, the driver of VLMV (pronounced ‘Alma’), light-heartedly describes his atmospheric project as “ambient-ish post-something”, but everything else about There Will Come Soft Rains is unapologetically earnest. A decade since their debut, they could surely fill a warehouse with the praise they’ve received, including corny phrases like “shimmering soundscapes” and “ethereal beauty”. They’ve earned it, though. Their fourth album feels more like going to church than visiting a nightclub.
