‘Are we in an Agatha Christie novel?’ asks my beau. He looks the part in his tweed flat cap, framed by a melancholy sky on a vertiginous slope that meets a rocky end in the treacherous sea below. Enhancing the literary fantasy are aloof and mysterious cliffside properties – secluded retreats of the rich and famous. I am in good humour but in need of this change of scenery and pace.
