Humongo scare at ChiZine
The opportunity to work with American- Canadian filmmaker and horror legend George A. Romero is more than a dream come true for Sandra Kasturi, co-publisher of ChiZine Publications. “Of course we’ve been fans of George forever,” she says. “It’s George Romero. George Romero! We almost passed out f rom excitement.” The science-fiction and fantasy press, based in Peterborough, Ontario, will release Romero’s The Little World of Humongo Bungo, an illustrated tale about a gentle – albeit fire-breathing – giant and the nation of tiny people who worship then turn on him. “It’s exactly the kind of weird and charming book we like to do,” Kasturi says. The press connected with Romero through the former Rue Morgue editor-in-chief Dave Alexander, who recently launched Untold Horror, a documentary series and multimedia company exploring horror movies that never reached completion. ChiZine holds world English-language rights (excluding France and Belgium) to Humongo Bungo and plans to publish in fall 2017.
