For many months, in the popular and scientific press, a team of scientists led by Robert DePalma has been describing excavations taking place since 2013 in a patch of North Dakota. That patch, though small, apparently holds evidence of the very day dinosaurs met their demise when a huge asteroid struck Earth and wiped out fully three-quarters of all life on Earth.
DePalma and his team have been excavating an area of the Hell Creek Formation that seems to hold evidence of the cataclysm.
