ALTERNATIVELY…
LG OLED55C4
That you can pick up a current-gen 55in LG OLED for a grand and a half is really something, given the tech’s superb colour reproduction, black levels and viewing angles.
And as well as this version, the C4 comes in sizes ranging from 42in to 83in, meaning even those with limited space are well served.
It’s hard to see where LG has cut corners too. Aside from the absence of the brightness-boosting MLA tech you find in pricier LG OLEDs (like the one overleaf), this set scores well for features. All four HDMIs are 2.1 (accepting 4K up to 144Hz) and there’s support for Dolby Vision, G-Sync and HGiG, for improved HDR performance in games. The audio is decent and the webOS platform feels zippy and well-integrated.
