THE HILARY FILES: HAS THE FBI WON IT FOR TRUMP?
The US presidential campaign took another bizarre turn last week when the FBI announced that it had uncovered new emails that might be relevant to its inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server when she was secretary of state. Clinton had looked set for a comfortable win next Tuesday, but the dramatic news cast doubt on the result. Furious Democrats accused FBI director James Comey, formerly a registered Republican, of violating the bureau’s political neutrality by dropping the bombshell just days before the election. But Donald Trump seized on the potential lifeline, describing his rival’s handling of classified data as a scandal “bigger than Watergate”.
