Pictures W Series
2019 was the debut year for all W Series staff. The spotlights are on the “first time” of a competition that is not actually based on the entry list of paying drivers but on a completely selected starting grid that showcases technical, sporting and mental skills. Despite the great pressure for the debut, the competition immediately proved solid for the level of its races, never predictable and always hard-fought. The Tatuus F3 chassis has well interpreted the spirit of the project, rotating the cars among the participants at each weekend, however putting the girls and young women in the best conditions. The great success was also the result of a very high-level organization that associated the W Series with an important category such as the DTM, races broadcast in streaming and a large media presence in order to guarantee maximum visibility.
The 2019 season, however, passed through the “meat grinder” of the hard law of motorsport, that is, only one winner and the remaining “losers”. As for the results on the track, British driver Jamie Chadwick triumphed. After a great Opening Season, 2020 promised to feature an especially captivating calendar thanks to the inclusion of new tracks, including the famous Austin and Mexico City tracks where the W Series was supposed to follow F1. Covid-19 subsequently upset the plans forcing the organization to first postpone and then, alas, cancel the 2020 season.
