GOING TO MARKET
A lesson from a smile
It is easy to leave things to the last minute. Planning ahead is better suggests Patrick Forsyth.
I adore the cartoonist Tom Gauld who, amongst other things, focuses on books, writing and publishing. A collection of his work with this theme appears in the book Revenge of the Librarians (Canongate) and one of the cartoons pictures a meeting contemplating the launch of a new book. One character is saying: ‘We are planning to generate a hubbub that creates a bit of a hoo-ha, then it won’t be long before we have a rumpus that we can whip up into a brouhaha. By publication day we should be looking at a full-on hullabaloo.’
