PUBLISHING
It all ADDS UP
Maths can calculate your imminent book deal, says Rosalind Moody, as she explains how all those rejections you’ve received in the past are adding up to that ‘yes’ moment.
We’re all familiar with the law of probability; the rule that states that the more attempts you make in an experiment, the closer you get to an accurate probability. We all know it took JK Rowling twelve firm rejections to find Harry Potter a home, but how many contacts would she have canvassed before even pitching to that dozen? How many more publishers did she pitch to that she never heard back from?
Think back to a time when you got so close to securing a writing job, commission or opportunity, just to fall at the last hurdle. How downbeat did you feel? No need for that negativity now – I’ll show you how to take that ‘no’ and put it towards a ‘yes’ in the future. This is because next time, luck will swing a bit more in your favour, and the next time, a touch more. It’s just how the universe works (with a lot of hard work and some positive affirmations, in my case).
