For many years, the goat sector has been stereotyped as a poor man’s trade, relegating goat growing to a traditional small-scale backdrop of mainly rural families. This historical marginalisation of the goat sector in modern day trade and development has had a big disadvantage to the growing spectrum of goat product consumers and users. The negative typecast has also socially and economically deprived the hardworking growers of goats of the most needed economic opportunities to break out of perpetual poverty. But a farming enterprise in Mkushi’s Tazara Farm Corridor is changing the way the goat sector is perceived.
