It’s always interesting to read about people’s experiences at the sharp end in days gone by; in this issue, Alan Hiley treats us to his days working on the shop floor at Trent. And Andy Saunders recalls discovering the interesting buses of Gosport & Fareham in the 1960s, just down the road from Southampton, where he lived. Talking of Southampton, we have some more observations from readers following David Toy’s article in the last edition.

We discovered some official PMT photographs in the Bus Archive that show how the company liked to show off a bit, and feature further thoughts on the Albion Aberdonian, Devon General’s Albion Nimbuses and those X routes in the South Midlands. We know you like our occasional look at buses and bridges, so here’s one in Preston that seemed to vary its clearance, according to the signs anyway… We also know you like our regular rear ends, and this time we showcase a couple of unusual coach backs. And how about a Delaine Atlantean then and now, Keswick than and not quite so then, and a Blackpool timetable book with some distinctly strange information in it?

Plus there’s our popular, lively and well-illustrated Forum section with topics ranging far and wide, and a look at some new books.
