BEAT THE AGE OF CONSENT
(LONDON)
Regrettably as relevant as ever, Bronski’s perfect political pop also remains fearless and escapist. They didn’t last, but this comprehensive reissue reminds us how lucky we were to have them at all. Demos hint at where they could have gone, while the new remixes here – including a Neil Tennant cameo – are superior to usual contemporary reworkings.
02 THE POLICE SYNCRHONICITY
(UMR/POLYDOR)
Considering the sessions for The Police’s final masterpiece were famously bitter, it’s a miracle that Universal found anything spare in the vaults. Yet the trio’s first deluxe edition adds many layers of fresh insight. An exemplary reissue worth the wait, hopefully there’s more of this standard to follow.
