If you’re a Duran Duran fan who’s never delved into Japan’s work, hearing the Catford fivepiece kick off their third album might well provoke a double take. The title track’s introduction is distinguished by a phased ‘helicopter’ sound similar to that decorating the start of Planet Earth, Duran’s debut single. If you didn’t know Japan got there a year earlier, you might think they’d ripped off the more famous band.
