Though they’re regarded as one-hit wonders in the UK, Alphaville have had a long career in their native Germany, releasing seven albums and enjoying a string of major singles during their 80s heyday. They’re the latest group to go back in search of inspiration – their new album, Eternally Yours, is a grand symphonic ‘re-imagining’ of their greatest hits with the help of the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg.
We caught up with frontman and original member Marian Gold to find out why they’ve (albeit temporarily) ditched the synths for a string section.
