★ HIGH HOPES
Jacob Bryant
Meet the North Georgia country rocker with a troubled past and a bright future.
“My mum was my biggest fan. We’d go get a 30-pack of beer and listen to Kid Rock all night!”
IT'S BEEN A long road for southern rock’s rising star Jacob Bryant, paved with addiction, anxiety and loss – experiences he’s poured into debut LP Practice What I Preach, a meaty fusion of countrified soul and rock’n’roll grit.
His musical journey began when he was just eight years old, playing bluegrass on his grandparents’ porch in rural Georgia. “That was where it started, just enjoying hanging out with the family and making music,” Bryant says in his southern drawl. “Cos there wasn’t really anything else to do where I’m from!”
