F ortunately, getting ready for a few hours’ shooting is not like preparing for a deep sea dive. It is worth taking some time to get it right however. As we’re shooting outdoors in the UK, you definitely need to consider warmth and waterproofing. Your clothing shouldn’t be too tight or restrictive, or it will make it hard to shoot properly. It’s also important to look the part, because if you are going to miss the targets it’s important to miss with style.
You’ll be expected to wear glasses for safety reasons, and most shooters will choose coloured lenses named after some exotic fruit in the fond belief this will help them see the targets better. Unless you want to look like an African military dictator you should avoid mirrored lenses, and last season’s ski goggles are not quite the right look either.
