PDFgear was one of your favourite programs of 2024 (see our Cover Feature on page 50 to find out where it ranked) and managed to squeeze in another update just before the year ended. To “streamline workflow”, it has finally introduced support for keyboard shortcuts, so you can perform common actions much faster. Unlike PhotoDemon (see above), you can’t customise these hotkeys, but you can see the full list by clicking the Help tab then Settings and selecting Shortcuts. Just as useful is the new right-click menu for PDFs, which gives you instant access to options such as Edit Text (see screenshot), Merge & Split PDF, Delete Pages, OCR and ‘Convert to’. PDFgear has also improved its dark mode and added ‘tooltips’ to menu buttons, which explain their function when you hover your cursor over them and give you their keyboard shortcut where available.
