Many people dislike two-factor authentication. It can be a real hassle locating the device the code is being sent to, and then you have to type it before you get timed out. But it does add a layer of security to your accounts – and it’s here to stay.
Bitwarden, our favourite free password manager, wants you to use two-factor authentication when accessing your password vault, but it’s not compulsory. However, it has recently started to email codes that you’ll need to enter if you try to sign in on an “unrecognised” device (see screenshot). You’ll only get these emails if you don’t have two-factor turned on in Bitwarden. If you do, then you’ll receive codes as before.
