Our monthly shake-of-thehead at our earlier selves’ news choices…
A decade back we were dead set on finessing that most versatile (and mobile) of musical instruments: the human voice. Our cover feature was angled toward those who didn’t necessarily have the chops to deliver the goods on take one (that’ll be most of us, then). It’s a philosophy we stuck to in subsequent vocal-angled features. We also spent some time with Ableton’s recently released ‘Push’, a Launchpad-like hardware controller that a scant ten years later might be just challenging the very notion of computer-based music-making. If only we’d known; it seemed so sweet and innocent at the time…
