1. Generating ideas with the new MIDI Tools and Meld in Live 12

> To showcase some of the best new additions in this latest version of Live, we’re going to generate some music with the new MIDI tools in Live 12, play them with Meld and then (opposite) use Roar to get even more ideas going. First we load up Meld onto a MIDI channel – just drag it on as usual – and open up a simple sound like ‘Bassic’.

> Click on the new Generators drop-down in the Clip and you can choose from Rhythm to generate a rhythmic idea; Seed for random notes; Shape for more melodic riffs; and Stacks for inserting chords. You simply hit the Generate button to get your note ideas and can use Undo, and Redo all the time to help make selections.
