Wavesfactory Equalizer £85
Another day, another smart EQ, but does this rather blandly-named processor do a great job without stressing you out? Andy Jones tunes in
PRESETS While Equalizer does the work for you, it does come with a small bank of presets for different instrument types
DRAW YOUR OWN CURVES If you want to get involved manually, you can draw in lines just by dragging across the 32 channels
LOW-END Some times Equalizer might introduce these low frequencies as it sees fit, but you can manually reduce them
BOOST/CUT You can turn Equalizer into a subtractive EQ (reduce Boost to zero) or reduce the Cut so it is additive
BACK TO NATURE Here, Equalizer is boosting the highs to give the audio its initial sparkle back and make it more natural
MAIN DIAL If you like you can do everything with this one dial or even just leave it alone! We actually found Equalizer often works best leaving everything at Default
ATTACK AND RELEASE These simply control how quickly Equalizer’s processing comes in and out, but can be very creative
OTHER CONTROLS Use the EQ in M/S mode to process the mid and sides (dial left or right, by default, it’s stereo), and Tilt lets you push Equalizer into more highor low-end processing
