BEER, Devon
Beer Heights Light Railway gala
Organiser: Peco.
Venue: Pecorama, Underleys, Beer, Seaton, Devon, EX12 3NA.
Open: both days 1000-1700
Admission: advance tickets – adults £27.50, children (3-16) £13.75, U3s free, dogs welcome at £2.00 each. Card payments only – book on line.
Amenities: free parking. Ticket includes access to the gardens with fine views over Beer village, Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, as well as former 'Golden Arrow' Pullman car Orion and an opportunity to play mini golf. Note site is steep in places. Refreshments.
Features: second of three gala events with rides on the 7¼" gauge BHLR, which with its mile-long fully signalled route through the Mediterranean-style gardens is one of the finest lines of that gauge in the UK. Model railway exhibition with many layouts in a variety of scales and gauges showing how model railways can be achieved in home and garden settings. The ticket also gives a 10% discount in the well-stocked model shop.

Admission: £11.00 on the day, £10.00 in advance, also allowing early entry at 9.30.
Accompanied children (under 16) free.
Amenities: Follow the brown anchor sign from the A2/M2. Paid parking at the Historic Dockyard Chatham and at the adjacent Dockside Outlet Centre. Catering.
Features: layouts include Japan in Bloom (N), Filisur RhB (Swiss N), Sölden (Austrian HOe, CM June 2007), Gresten (Austrian HOe, CM September 2012), Kaninchenbau (alpine HOe, CM February 2022), Kamiack Falls (US HO, CM April and July 2022), Gammar Silo Rotatory (On30), Johannesdorf Tirolerbahnen (Austrian Oe, CM November 2007), and Blindheim (German O, CM November 2023 and November 2024). Non-members welcome.
Amenities: café and bar.
Features: photo and film show; Society sales; bring & buy stall; MRC test tracks (N, HOn3, HOm/TT, HO/OO, S, O). Prizes for longest scale coach formation or freight train, and earliest motive power. Also for furthest distance travelled, longest journey time, and most 'legs' in the journey.
