In My Hoop...
Diane Barber, who moved from the US to the UK 20 years ago, has been stitching for even longer, as it provides her with plenty of comfort and joy…
Originally from the Tampa, Florida area in the US, Diane Barber has lived in the Suffolk Coastal area for around 20 years. Cross stitch has been a great support for her as she has settled in anew country…
We speak to many readers who have built a support network for their cross stitch hobby –whether it’s going to groups or chatting to other crafters online. In Diane’s case, it’s more that cross stitch itself provided the support she needed. “There aren’t really many stitching shops around where I live,” she explains. “I mainly buy my kits and supplies online and I haven’t joined any groups for stitching either. It has been hard meeting people and making friends. Iused to say all the time when Ibecame amum and noticed when joining baby and toddler groups that people were already settled with friends as they grew up here and it was hard for them to let an outsider into their friendship circle.”
