“Bistro” is the French word for café. Bringing bistro chairs indoors creates contrast and adds interest to your space. This metal chair with distressed white paint gives the living room of homeowner Brendt Blanks a rustic texture while matching the color of the space.

Did you know the bistro chair was the world’s first massproduced piece of furniture? Michael Thonet designed the No. 14 chair in 1859 using bent wood, a process of wetting, shaping and drying the wood. Because the chairs are lightweight, affordable and able to stack and store, they became a staple for outdoor terraces in French restaurants and cafés. This reputation earned them the nickname “bistro” chairs.
