Thousands of people from across the world gathered in Dunoon last week for another hugely enjoyable three days at Cowal Highland Gathering. Hundreds of dancers, pipers and drummers, heavy athletes, runners, ceilidh tent performers, stunt cyclists and many other entertainers put on a show to remember for the big crowd around Dunoon Stadium.
One of the highlights of the gathering’s final day on Saturday– and one of the most fiercely contested – was, as always, the Cowal Pipe Band Championship. Newly crowned world champions Inveraray and District Pipe held off the challenge of Johnstone Pipe Band to be crowned winners of the Grade One championship.
Pipe Major Angus MacColl leads a winning performance from Oban High School Novice Juvenile B.
