DESPITE some inclement weather, the ladies carried on with the final round of their championship. Margaret MacKinnon increased her lead and won by 16 strokes, beating Kathleen Young to become this year’s Lochgilphead ladies’ champion. Donna McKellar won the Stableford competition, taking the lead from last week’s leader Ele Hunter, who couldn’t play due to an injury. The club congratulates Margaret and Donna.
Winners Margaret MacKinnon and Donna McKellar
The men played a new format of a bogey/ par competition which, once they got their heads round the scoring system, proved to be an enjoyable event. Jim Hunter was the eventual winner on the day, beating Douglas Whyte by one hole. Jim continued his winning streak on Sunday when he won the RNLI with a net 63, beating Grant McDougall on a countback.
