Sir,
Like the NHS I am celebrating a 70th anniversary this summer … in my case I have been holidaying on Arran since 1948. While changes were gradual, in recent years RET has encouraged a glut of campervans. I commiserate with residents, like Rory Cowan (Letters 7th July), who have to put up with unacceptable behaviour. I can understand the desire to impose laws, but I fear this will take time and will require enforcement.
May I suggest a more immediate action to try to get more reasonable behaviour: construct a code of practice for campervans advising locations where overnight parking can occur and where it should not. Advise on locations for disposal of effluent. Advise on road manners such as speed, overtaking and use of passing places. This could be done before the end of July.
