Sir,
I hope that the SNP has reasonably broad appeal; I support independence while disagreeing with many of the policies of the party. As such can I take issue with Dr Kerr’s defence of the SNP posters. Apparently they are there to help engage the public in the democratic process – put up signs saying ‘please vote’ if that’s the intention.
Dr Kerr’s next argument is ‘we have a long tradition of posters’. We had a long tradition of sticking weans up chimneys until we moved on; use culture and tradition as a springboard, not a cushion.
