Nominee for the leader of the Currie family, Robert Currie, and a contingent of family, friends, supporters and other Curries have dedicated a plaque in the ancient Clachan Church in Shiskine in memory of all of the Curries of Arran.
Following the submission as a possible candidate for the leader of the family group, while awaiting the decision of the Lord Lyon in determining the position known as the Commander, Robert Currie, president of the Clan Currie Society, spent three days on Arran enjoying his ancestral homeland where his family originated from Shiskine.
Strictly speaking, the Currie family does not fit the historical definition of a Highland clan and offi - cially are referred to as a Learned Kindred instead of a clan, a distinction which the Curries respectfully observe.
