Police on Arran received numerous calls about a man walking through a village carrying two large weapons, a court has heard.
At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Steven Shankland, 31, of East Woodstock Court, Kilmarnock, pleaded guilty to having the axes in Main Street, Lamlash, in May last year. He was jailed for 18 months.
Jo Cunningham, prosecuting, said that Shankland was spotted by an off-duty police officer as he carried the items while walking past shops and a hotel. She described them as ‘two large, wooden-handled axes with no protective covering’.
