WHEN your motivation is floundering, there is nobody like a training partner to pull you through a gruelling session. They know better than anyone what it takes to flick the switch that keeps you focused; they have been there through your season’s many highs and lows.
On the track, at least, they know exactly what makes you tick. And vice versa, of course. And psychologists are convinced that training partnerships are beneficial – up to a point. If your regular co-trainer is prone to pushing too hard, they could be detrimental to your performance in the long-term.
