RECENTLY, we reported on these pages how athlete and scientist, Georgie Bruinvels, was conducting groundbreaking research into the menstrual cycle and its effect on performance. This week, Bruinvels writes about her investigation on p48 and calls for recruits to take part in her trial.
It’s an area of study that is overdue, with very few published papers examining any links with sport. In one of her surveys involving 1862 athletes, Bruinvels found that 41.7% said their menstrual cycle affected their performance.
